Where the Water Meets the Night
Wake to the sound of the river, birdsong, and the wind moving through the trees.
The cabin sits on its own quiet stretch of the Freeman—thirty metres from a natural swimming hole, a stone-and-pebble shoreline, and a sandy island mid-current. Spend your days swimming and floating the current; as evening falls, gather around the riverside firepit and soak in the golden sunset before a sky full of stars.
A wide open great room under soaring log trusses—leather sofas by the woodstove, a long dining table, foosball by the stairs, and the kitchen just beyond. Room for the whole crew to gather as the light drops behind the pines.
Percolate the morning's first coffee beside the antique cookstove, still in your socks, the river just beyond the window. Everything you need, and nothing you don't.
Turn in to the hush of the valley and the patter of rain on the tin roof, and wake to sun through the trees—a soft room with nowhere to be and nothing to do but breathe out.
A second bedroom keeps the whole crew close under one roof—a comfortable bed against the warm log wall and a wide window for the morning light. A portable air conditioner keeps it cool and easy through the warmest summer nights.
Climb to your own perch under the beams—a leather sofa to sink into and a shelf of books to browse, the whole great room and fireplace opening up below. A beautiful little lounge all its own.
Just across the yard, a light-filled washhouse with a hot shower and every comfort—steps from the trees, under an open Alberta sky.
It's the moose. Deer, beavers, bald eagles and owls are daily company here too—the sanctuary is alive with wildlife, morning to night.
While the sanctuary offers plenty to explore, you'll also find a handful of favourite spots nearby.
